So far only two operating systems are available in smartphone markets – one is Android and the other is IOS that is used in APPLE devices. This was a very hard and tough journey but it rewarded the company with lots of benefits. It is quite similar to the way in which Windows is an OS for PCs. It's the software that constantly runs on the phone, managing its more basic functions and supporting any apps (applications) that are run on top of it.



As we can have a lot of consumers using smartphones in a frequent manner. If we look at the exact picture, almost 32.9 million phones running Android were sold in the last quarter of 2010. This thing shows that it is the most popular smartphone platform in the world. One cannot say that this market is only bound to some countries of society because it has grabbed the attention of all of the regions in the world. Android has a worldwide market share of 75% that is almost unbelievable.  Android phones are the biggest competitors for Apple's iPhone which uses its own operating system: iOS. 
Well if we make a comparison between two operating systems, there is a lot of difference according to their pros and cons. Systems are being used by different kinds of users so we can have different opinions on their  quality of working. Android runs on many different smartphones on a larger scale at an affordable price. While on the other hand IOS is an expensive system and apple phones are not easy to have by all kinds of customers.

The popularity of Android and IOS systems?

While if we have a look at the benefits, the Android smartphone is capable of most of the innovations brought in by the iPhone, such as easy web and email browsing and a touchscreen menu. There are many new things that have been introduced by the Android system. So we can say that it also has its own innovations that have now been adopted by the iPhone, such as multitasking.
The availability of more advanced features depends on the exact model of the phone being used because the quality and price of a phone also matter a lot. However, almost all models will have a camera for taking pictures and videos and GPS for satellite navigation. Like iPhones, Android phones like Huawei latest smartphone have their own app store which is called as Google Play store. This is basically a market of applications where one can buy different kinds of gadgets according to their needs. If we consider the market over one million apps were available till 2013 – everything from word processing, games, price comparisons, photography and video to travel, news and painting – the list is huge.
